We have an updated list of consents that have been granted so far

• ORC – Permit to Discharge contaminants
• ORC – Land Use Consent to disturb river bed
• ORC – Land Use Consent to build structures
• ORC – Permit to divert water
• DOC – Management Agreement for carpark & tracks
• QLDC – Consent to vehicle crossing (for driveway into Reid’s property)
• QLDC – Licence to Occupy Road Reserve (for machinery access on river left and storage of materials during construction)

• Funded by a settlement with Contact Energy reached during the Clutha River consent process
• Mitigation for iconic whitewater lost under Lake Dunstan behind the Clyde dam
• Aim to create new whitewater
• Whitewater kayaking is a growth sport and kayaking is taught in many schools as a mainstream outdoor activity
• Hawea has been identified because it has maximum and minimum flow levels and an existing high kayak usage. It is accessible to kayakers and enjoys a good climate.
• Designed to mesh with it’s surroundings inviting the community to it’s banks, with good access points and natural stone terracing.
• Will blend in with natural river bank.
• Linkage with river track
• Community based facility that allows for inner tubing, instructional kayaking, beginner rafting, and water play.
• Facility will provide Didymo decontamination stations
